A Personal Message from Joshua P. Warren, written just after creating the Sunshine Simple in October of 2011:
Thanks for your interest in my solar progress! Good news . . .
These last 2 winters, my home in Western NC was hit with awful snow storms that severely affected my family and friends. The first time, I ended up stuck with no power for days. I was unprepared. It SUCKED, and all I had was a small radio to listen for updates on the restoration effort.
Last winter, the power again went out, but I had purchased a gas-operated back up generator. In the freezing cold it refused to start when I needed it. This was the final straw. I made a decision I would never allow this to happen again; I would purchase a solar backup system--no moving parts and no gas needed.
I did some research and found the most popular model available on all the ads and websites was very limited. It was, at most, usable for campers. The battery capacity was small, and the solar cell panel used to recharge the system was only 60 watts (a standard LIGHT BULB). They charge at least a whopping $1695 for these!!! SO, for the last year, I've been researching solutions for a SIMPLE, dependable solar power system that could supply enough power to make me comfy at a price I wouldn't cringe at. I'm talking plug-and-play. I hate assembly, so the point is to just have a box with an outlet that sits in the sun. I plug in an extension cord and--presto!--the crucial electrical stuff I need to remain comfortable is running smoothly, courtesy of mother nature.
Luckily, due to my line of work, I have a team of technicians who work with all kinds of advanced technology, so I gave them a top priority of creating a solution. My idea was called "Sunshine Simple," an effort to make low-cost, reliable systems that are so easy an elementary school kid can take them out of the box and immediately use them. I asked my staff to look at options for both portable survival situations and full home systems.
In just the last month, my staff and I finally finished the first models, and I am very satisfied with the results!
This little section gets somewhat technical, so bear with me:
It is an 1800-watt generator that weighs around 50 pounds. A 120-watt portable, fold-out solar panel connects to a large capacity power supply (it has a 70 amp hour battery in it) and is as simple as I wanted . . . unfold the solar panel in the yard, point it at the sun and plug the wire into the back of the power supply. It charges quickly! Plus, you can also charge it from a regular home outlet. You will then have ample power in emergencies for lighting at night, TV and laptop use, microwaves, freezer, etc. The power supply is SMALL and sleek: it looks like a computer case, and has 5 outlets on the back. We wanted to create something that a single, older retired lady could use and not be intimidated. The cost of this system is $1495, and offers DOUBLE the electrical power of the most popular system now being sold all over the net.
NO HIDDEN COSTS! YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER UNIT FOR ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PRICE! TRUST ME; LOOK FOR YOURSELF!!!
This is a price I can live with for a good, solid stand-alone unit that will sit in the yard and generate all the free energy the sun will provide whenever, and however often, I want to use it!
My goal is to see that no one, including myself, ever has to bear another dreary day stuck in their homes without power, or feel that surge of anger when a power bill comes (and trust me, your power company prices are going to go WAY UP soon). You can use this every day to lower your power bill, or just pull it out for emergencies.
I made it a serious goal to have a team of real people who can listen to your personal needs and have the technical skills (and social skills) to customize equipment for your needs if your requirements exceed the basic systems (though, for most, these will be extremely sufficient).
Just the first day I announced this, I sold FOUR. Not surprisingly, I already have a waiting list for these, but if you purchase now, it should still arrive way before Christmas. This is the ULTIMATE gift, btw. You can buy a bunch of useless crap, or purchase something that may save a life. Blizzards? Hurricanes? Tornadoes? Earthquakes? Economic failure? Martial law? The instant the power goes out, your friend or loved one will look to the heavens and THANK GOD for this miraculous box you gave them. Or they might do it every month when the power bill arrives : )
When you buy a unit from this page (see below), your name goes on the list instantly; and we'll make yours ASAP. Plus, if you buy it today, you'll save $150 since we'll pay for the shipping & handling. That's right: as a winter bonus, s&h is FREE! It's $1495 total. I repeat: NO HIDDEN COSTS. If you have a credit card, I can tell you, with a clear conscience, that I would MAX IT OUT to buy this generator. If the grid goes down, the creditors can wait. In the meantime, you'll have POWER to survive comfortably. In that instant when everything goes black, the reality will hit you. But then it will be too late if you don't already have this gem in your house. And the power failure can happen any moment; even as you're reading this. Ironically, while writing this, the power JUST went out at my house!!! I SWEAR. Maybe a sign?
I hope over the next year to make the name "Sunshine Simple" a well known company brand that helps everyday people, like you and me, finally go solar and end our energy dependence on big, corrupt corporations. Plus, I believe 2012 is going to be a HARD year for us, and we should be as independent and self-reliant as possible. Even if you have a gas generator, what happens when you can't get gas??? This is quiet. It has no moving parts. It's pollution free. It works in harmony with nature. It's absolutely perfect.
Let me stress: This device is made to be 100% charged by sunshine ALONE. That means you could take it to the middle of nowhere and it would pump out electricity in full force forever. I wanted it especially for blackouts so I could make my own energy without relying on any fuels or the grid at all. It is completely solar. But, if you want to charge it from an outlet, you can do that, too (eg. you're about to take a trip and want to bring it with you on the road, so you simply charge it up at home all night). It was designed to gather energy either way.
The sun is always there, radiant and pollution free. It's way past time we become energy self-reliant. This should be the most important lesson we all learn from climate change, storms, disasters, and the nuclear accident in Japan. My goal is help us all create the actual, positive change we want RIGHT NOW.
If the sun basically powers this entire planet, it ought to be able to easily (and cheaply) power the devices in your home.
NOTE: I can run a 1500 watt heater fan with my generator. But though you probably can run an electric heater in emergencies, we do not suggest relying on the basic unit for electric backup power for heating or cooking use. It is better to cook with gas or wood when possible and make far better use of your resources. We also will soon offer a daytime cooking solar furnace.
If you have questions, email us (Business@ShadowboxENT.com) and let us know what we can do to help you. We'll get right back to you. I believe in good karma, and I only work on the level to make sure your life is better ; )

You may get credit for 30% of the cost, up to $500 per 500 watts of power. And this unit has 1800 watts!
It is our understanding that, by purchasing this particular unit, you may qualify for credits under the H.R.6 Energy Policy Act of 2005 and Energy Independence & Security Act of 2007. That means, you are credited for energy efficiency improvements made to your principal residence (a house, mobile home, apartment, condo, houseboat etc) where you spend most of the time. Ask your accountant if you will qualify for this tax credit worth most, if not ALL your cost of this unit, that is only available until 2016.
IRON CLAD WARRANTY: You're protected! The warranty is for one, full year on parts and labor and 90 days on the battery (the battery can last for years so long as you don't ever let it sit completely dead for a long time). If something goes wrong, just send it back (or whatever parts seem to be the culprit--we'll advise you) and we'll exchange it at no cost, as quickly as possible (excluding obvious abuse or acts of God beyond our control). If something goes wrong after that year, we'll help fix it as low-cost as possible. Regardless of the situation, we want you to be satisfied so you'll tell your friends good things about us and you'll keep coming back.
EXACTLY HOW LONG CAN YOU RUN THINGS?
Of course, this varies, since there are so many different types of products in your house that consume power at a different rate under different circumstances. The first thing we suggest is making sure you have energy efficient products. For example:
A 60-watt incandescent lamp bulb can be switched out with a 7-watt LED light bulb. You get the same output with only 10% of the energy draw. Gradually, we are going to offer energy-efficient products on our site so you can stretch your power as far as possible.
When you buy our basic unit, you'll either purchase it with the standard 120-watt panel, or for quicker recharging and more power, a 200-watt panel.
In the winter you will generally get 8 hours of charging time, so either 8 x 120 watts or 8 x 200 watts of energy store. Summer power storage is faster, at 16 x 120 watts or 16 x 200 watts.
The unit can power big stuff, like a refrigerator, but it's best to put it on a timer or switch so that it's cooled intermittently and does not constantly run. This will greatly extend your available power.
But remember, your unit is constantly charging every day!
This is a rough estimate of average use for various products on one charge:
Cordless Phone (talk)10 hrs., (standby) 125 hours
Cell Phone (talk) 10 hrs. (standby) 125 hours
Internet Modem 100 hours
Inkjet Printer 46 hours of heavy use
Clock Radio 100 hours
Laptop Computer 20 watts, 38 hours
20" LCD Monitor 52 watts, 8.5 hours
Table Lamp 60 watts, 12.5 hours (convert to an LED bulb and it's 100 hours)
13" TV using 38 watts, 16 hours
Desktop Computer using 200 watts, 2.8 hours
8.8 Cubic Foot Freezer using 80 watts, 7.5 hours (place on timer or switch to extend)
18 Foot Refrigerator using 120 watts, 3.8 hours (place on timer or switch to extend)
Sump Pump at 1/2 HP using 300 watts, 2 hours
Microwave using 1000 watts, 19 minutes
Though I can run a 1500 watt heater fan with my generator, and you probably can run an electric heater in emergencies, we do not suggest relying on the basic unit for electric backup power for heating or cooking use. It is better to cook with gas or wood when possible and make far better use of your resources. We also will soon offer a daytime cooking solar furnace.
